Digimarc (DMRC) announced on June 21, 2006, that it granted VCP a license to Digimarc's extensive patent portfolio, supporting VCP's efforts to deliver its rights signaling system technology to address digital television's "Analog Hole" problem. An affiliate of VEIL Interactive Technologies, VCP's rights assertion mark is one of the primary content protection technologies under consideration by Congress in the "Analog Hole" legislation; also know as the Digital Transition Content Security Act of 2005. This legislation is designed to plug the "Analog Hole" -- the problem that occurs when protected digital content has to be converted into analog in the clear to be viewable on television sets in consumers' homes. This analog signal can increasingly be re-digitized by inexpensive legal devices, leading to unauthorized copying and redistribution of commercial copyrighted content.
